ACNH Autumn Moon Event (Harvest Moon Festival) Release Date
The Autumn Moon is an annual event that takes place on the full moon closest to the Autumnal Equinox. Asian people celebrated the day and call it The Mid-Autumn Festival. The event is generally coming in September or October, but the exact date varies (time in the lunar calendar is fixed). The upcoming Autumn Moon event this year is October 1, 2020. Because Animal Crossing New Horizons is a life simulation video game, we can expect it included in the ACNH october update and events.
ACNH Moon-Viewing Day & Nook Shopping Items
The moon viewing day is the Mid-Autumn Festival, which is held on the 15th day of the 8th month of the lunar calendar, on that day, we can see and enjoy the full moon scenery at night. In Animal Crossing New Horizons, for celebration the moon viewing day, the ACNH Moon Rug is introduced as a new Animal Crossing item, it’s a seasonal item that is available from September 7 to October 9. Players can buy the moon rug through Nook Shopping with 2000 ACNH bells.

Harvest Moon Festival, known as Autumn Moon in PAL regions and Tsukimi in Japan, is a typical event in the previous Animal Crossing series, celebrated in City Folk and New Leaf. How does the Animal Crossing Harvest Moon Festival work in past games?
During the Animal Crossing Harvest Festival, the player can visit Tortimer to receive a model of the Moon and stand near the pond and stare at the Moon's reflection on the water. In City Folk, the Harvest Moon Festival is called Autumn Moon in the US and European versions of the game and Moon Viewing Festival in Japanese regional games. The celebration starts from 6 AM to 12 AM.
In New Leaf, Isabelle will stand in the Plaza on that day and tell players there will be an Autumn Moon at night, players can receive a free item from her, the item varies depending on the player's region. In North American games, she gives a wheat bundle. In European games, she gives a veggie basket. There's also a face-cutout standee that depicts a scarecrow in a wheat field with the Autumn Moon in the background. In the Japanese version of AC, the face-cutout standee features a table with dango, and a rolling mountain in the background, with a large moon, where the player can pose for pictures.
