What is Amiibo Card In Animal Crossing?

The most collectors among you probably know the amiibo cards launched by Nintendo in 2015. Usable in the Happy Home Designer, amiibo Festival and New Leaf - Welcome amiibo episodes, these Amiibo Cards allow you to unlock content thanks to their NFC chip and have certain villagers move in automatically.

  • Type

  • Birthday

  • Constellation

  • Cube

  • Hand

The Amiibo cards have different colors, which are defined by their zodiac sign. You can recognize special cards by an additional glitter effect. The figures, on the other hand, hardly differ. The base on which they stand always remains the same. Only the villager standing on the base varies. The Amiibo card is therefore trading cards and trading figures. They are divided into series that differ externally. While the Amiibo cards present a villager in portrait format, the horizontal Welcome amiibo cards show the villager in a camper equipped with ACNH furniture. The figures differ in their base design.

What Are Animal Crossing Amiibo Figures?

Animal Crossing Amiibo Figures are physical amiibo-compatible figures from Nintendo originally released in 2015 and 2016 for Animal Crossing: Amiibo Festival, but are supported in the upcoming Animal Crossing: New Horizons as well. They are different from the Animal Crossing amiibo cards.

There are four series of Amiibo cards, each containing 100 different cards. There is also a special card in each card pack. The figures are a little clearer again, as there are only two collections.   • Super Smash Bros. Collection: 2 figures (Villager amiibo, Lucas amiibo)


What Content To Unlock With Animal Crossing Amiibo Cards?

New ACNH Sanrio Villagers - With the Amiibo cards (series 1-4), you can invite different villagers to your island in Animal Crossing: New Horizons. As soon as they are on your island, you have the opportunity to speak to them and convince them to move to your island. They are also used in the Fotopia building on Harvey's Island. There you will find the models of the residents for your photographs. It is possible to customize their outfit, set their emotions and decorate the scene to take a photo of them. Adjusting the outfit only works for normal villagers and is not possible for characters like Melinda.

ACNH Sanrio Aniibo Posters - While there are some Amiibo Cards such as Welcome amiibo cards and Sanrio collaboration cards which have received an error message when scanning because they are not yet approved for this function in Animal Crossing New Horizons by Nintendo. How To Get Animal Crossing New Horzions Amiibo Cards?

If you have your heart set on inviting a specific villager to your island, you might want to scour eBay or Amazon for a particular Animal Crossing amiibo card as many sellers will let you buy them individually. But be warned. Some of the more popular villagers' amiibo cards are incredibly pricey.


How To Scan Amiibo Cards For Getting Villagers and Sanrio Posters in Animal Crossing: New Horizons?

  • 1. To scan the Sanrio Amiibo Cards, you need the completely expanded service center. 

  • 2. Furthermore, you have to set up the campsite and have already received the first visitor to receive the Amiibo characters.

  • 3. In order for great photos to be possible, you have to be able to visit Harvey's Island. After a few days you will find Harvey roaming around your island. Speak to him and he will invite you to his island. 

  • 4. Go to the airport and speak to Wilbur at the ticket counter to fly to Harvey's Island. He explains everything there about the photo mode and the premises in the Fotopia building.
