ACNH Snow Day Guide 2022/2023 - When Does It Snow & When Will Heavy Snowfall Begin 2022 | Winter Snowfall Season

12/7/2022 3:26:18 PM

Now that Turkey Day and Nook Friday is out of the way, it’s officially the Winter Season on New Horizons Island, and in the Northern Hemisphere, which means we say goodbye to the rainfall, and say hello to Snow. In today’s guide, we are going to be talking about the ACNH Snow Day 2022, when it will start snowing 2022, when heavy snowfall will begin and what can you expect for winter season. In the end, we cover an unrelated topic - new Animal Crossing games coming in 2023.

ACNH SNOW DAY FOR WINTER

ACNH Winter Update 2022 - Snow Day, Snowfall, Snowboy & When Does It Snow in ACNH 2022

The Winter Season begins on November 26th, and runs all the way through to February next year. However before we see our entire Islands covered in Snow, we first get to experience some very light Snow showers, and what’s known as Snow Day.

When Will Heavy Snowfall Begin in Animal Crossing  2022/2023?

Snow Day is the day of the first Snowfall of the Season, and can happen any time over the next 2 weeks. Some Islands had their Snow Day already, and other Islands will have it sometime next few days, and that depends on your Islands Weather Pattern. Isabelle actually announces Snow Day and the first Snowfall in the morning announcement, and at some point that day you’ll begin seeing light Snow showers. These are the equivalent to light rain showers, it’s just snow instead. Have you had your Snow Day yet?

Now no-matter when you see your Snow Day, these light showers continue for around 2 weeks.  A few lucky people may see some heavier showers for the odd hour during this time, but on December 10th, everyone in the Northern Hemisphere has a 100% chance of heavy Snowfall,  and it will be Snowing heavily for the majority of the day for everyone. Anyway, during these light showers and in the lead up-to December 10th, Acorns and Pine Cones will continue to be available. But, once we have our guaranteed day of heavy Snowfall, they’ll stop spawning! Now thanks to December 10th, and the day of Heavy Snowfall, the Snow will finally settle and from December 11th every Island in the Northern Hemisphere will   be completely covered in Snow, including grass, buildings, trees and bushes.

Snowballs & Snowboys

Once the Snow covers our Island on December 11th, Snowballs can be encountered, which are used to make Snowboy’s, and both Snowflakes and Large Snowflakes can be obtained. These are used to craft items from the gorgeous Snowflake and Festive furniture series. From this point onwards, both light and heavy Snowfall will continue to be fairly consistent throughout the rest of Winter, with more heavy Snowfall between Toy Day and Countdown. The only time we won’t see Snow during the Winter is during the Countdown Event on December 31st, and the first few days of New Years. This is because New Years Eve   and New Years Day are technically Event Days too, and from January 1st through to January   4th we see “Fine Weather” with higher chances of seeing the Aurora Borealis. The chances of heavy Snowfall end on February 23rd, and the chances of light Snowfall end on February 24th, as Snowfall then transitions back into rain. The Snow then melts February 25th, and Spring begins.

New Animal Crossing Games Coming in 2023?

2022 is almost over and it's got players looking towards 2023. It's fair to say that this year hasn't been the best for Animal Crossing fans, it's something that we've gotten used to in the past where we've had years where no Animal Crossing content has really reached us at all. But thanks to New Horizons success in 2020 and Beyond, it made Animal Crossing a staple game for Nintendo one of their absolute biggest. Animal Crossing New Horizons is the second best-selling game on the switch with over 40 million sales as of September 2022. Mario Kart got new content thanks to its huge success on the switch, so that seems like proof that we will be seeing more Animal Crossing games on the switch. So it seems pretty unlikely that from a business point of view, Nintendo would leave it too long between releasing more Animal Crossing content after New Horizons. We all know that they're done with those updates in New Horizons, but what about future Animal Crossing games? How likely is it really that we would see new Animal Crossing games in 2023? So far we don't really know many of the major games which we'll be launching on Nintendo switch in this year, we do have the Legend of Zelda: Tears of a Kingdom which is going to be a massive release, but not too many others come to mind. March 2023 will also Mark three years since the launch of Animal Crossing New Horizons, that says there has been enough time for them to release something new Animal Crossing related.

Mainline Animal Crossing game: They'll be coming out with a new Mainline Animal Crossing game in 2023 and there is an evidence that they won't, just looking at the gaps between all the past Animal Crossing release dates, it seems very unlikely that they would decide to significantly shorten this even with the success of New Horizons. After all these Mainline games take a long time to develop even if they are using Animal Crossing New Horizons as the basis for their next game. They also don't have the tendency to release two Mainline Animal Crossing games on the same system, so as long as the Nintendo switch is around, we won’t be getting another Mainline Animal Crossing.

But on the other hand, it seems incredibly unlikely that Nintendo would make it, so New Horizons is the only Animal Crossing game really on Nintendo switch. There's still plenty of time for them to work on and release spin-offs for Animal Crossing which is something they did a bunch of between New Leaf and New Horizons. About three years after the launch of new Leaf, we got happy home designer which was the first major Animal Crossing spin-off and we could see a spin-off at this level for New Horizons too. Obviously, it would have to be fairly different from Happy Home Paradise, but there's plenty of ideas they could work with. A lot of people tend to mention the huge gap between Animal Crossing New Horizons and New Leaf and use that as a reason for why we wouldn't see more Animal Crossing content in the near future, but that's not a good argument given that we saw free animal crossing games in that time and a huge update for New Leaf too. So if you mark down the fact that we've already got now huge update for New Horizons, we technically could be in store for free space in-offs too if there's such a long gap between New Horizons and whatever Mainline game comes next.

Although it is worth noting that one was Animal Crossing amiibo Festival which they probably won't do anything like again since it wasn't a successful game by any means and another one was Animal Crossing Pocket Camp which is still actually around and active to this day. That given the Nintendo switch is at its halfway point in its lifespan or probably even beyond that now, we're definitely due to see some animal crossing spin-off even if it's just the one on the switch. 2023 would be a good year for this as well especially if it ended up coming out in November because that would be actually two years since the Appian Paradise DLC launched and over three years since New Horizons launched. That definitely feels like enough time for them to say we can let something else out into the world. Nintendo is very secretive unfortunately so they probably wouldn't give us any strong hints until they're ready to actually show something off. In 2023, it'll be a good idea to keep a close eye on these Nintendo directs for anything Animal Crossing related.

In 2022, it really didn't feel like there was any point it seemed pretty obvious that they were not going to come out of any animal crossing content since it hadn't even been a year since the 2.0 update. But we're definitely in new territory now as a year begins without anything Animal Crossing related happening. In the worst case scenario, Animal Crossing is going to make appearances in other games, we've seen it happen with smash, Mario Kart, WarioWare and others too, so Animal Crossing could make a its way into other franchises as little mini games and appearances and such. This definitely isn't as exciting as an actual Animal Crossing game even a spin-off, but still we like to see more Animal Crossing content.

Here is the wishlist for new Animal Crossing game 2023 shared by reddit:

1. Make a "small update" where you can upgrade Nooks Cranny and Able Sisters 1 more time, Nooks Cranny becomes "tnt mart", Able Sisters becomes "able sisters + shampoodle" , harriet can try out new hairstyles that only exclusive to shampoodles, also you can get mii masks, maybe you can also get lipstick or eyebrows done.

2. A mode where you can make villagers have their classic rudness, maybe you could redeem a settings app at nook miles that can change your gameplay. There is character settings controls date and time (which you can change in game without effecting your switch time) and villager rudeness.

3. More userfriendly options to shop multiple items in stores

4. The next animal crossing needs to allow more than one island per console, and they need to actually support it, not dump a couple of updates and leave it for dead like new horizons.

5. The villagers need better dialogue and more to do with them.

6. They will do a cooking spin off, they can’t do home design again and the response they got when they added cooking and farming to New Horizons was amazing. There will be like a Cooking Mama but Animal Crossing where you get requests from AC characters on what food they would like.

What do you think could 2023 be a good year for Animal Crossing New Horizons? Is it possible that we will see some kind of spin-off game? What’s your 2023 resolution for Animal Crossing?
