Animal Crossing New Horizons Happy Home Paradise Design Tips

If you are early on the Happy Home Paradise designs,  here are some helpful tips and tricks from Eeowna. As the number of homes you build increases, the more abilities you can unlock.

1. Make sure to craft all the needed DIYs 

If you’ve done as many as 30 houses, you may still not have unlocked every item available to you, you’ll have the option to use DIY recipes that you’ve already crafted and also use items that you’ve cataloged from the Nook Shop. If you are early on and you can’t make an amazing build, that is because you have not got all the tools yet. So make sure the DIY recipes that you are going to use have been unlocked. 

2. Unlock all the paths and fences

Another tip is to unlock all the paths and fences in the base game because you can only use paths and fences that you’ve unlocked in the base game. 

3. Accent and petition walls

The accent walls you should have from the beginning and petition walls you’ll get after doing 8 houses. Accent walls are a single wall with different wallpaper to the other three walls in the building and it will be placed on the wall in which you are facing to. You just need to press A on a wallpaper you want to place on all the walls and press X on the wallpaper you want to place as an accent wall. The petition walls are a vital part of transforming builds, will use whichever wallpaper is on the other three walls, not the accent wallpaper. 

4. Pillars and counters

Pillars and countertops are unlocked after doing 15 HHP homes, the pillars not only can be used at the edge of petition walls, but they are also a great way of adding an extra feature to the room, same goes for countertops, they can be used to break up rooms or used instead of a table in places. 

5. Place custom rugs on the floor

Placing custom rugs on the floor can help you add some vibe for your vacation home, what you need to do is go to the Able Sisters terminal, type in something to find the design codes or creator codes, then save the custom codes that you need to make the full lace rug. Next, go to Happy Home Paradise, open your phone app and make sure you are out of decorating mode, once you are in the app, you want to press on the custom design, click on Display Here and as floor tile, make sure you place all parts. Then go back to decorating mode, you’ll be able to move them like any rug. You can also use other custom designs use as wallpaper or flooring. 

6. Apply custom polishing effects

There is a new mechanic in Happy Home Paradise is the polishing function, which can be applied to the furniture in a vacation home, a villager's house, or a facility. Transformative polishing will be unlocked after you do 4 vacation rooms, but you don't get customized polishing until 12 rooms are completed. Even the default polishing effects can really transform a room and give it a realistic feel, every single type of polishing can be customized with a custom code. Press L, you'll change into the polishing gear and press A, you can polish any furnishings. 

7. Glow-in-the-dark stickers

The glow-in-the-dark stickers are a great way to make windows and doors for your house design. Make sure you place one of the outdoor sceneries as the accent wall for this really to come together, then place the sticker and customize it by pressing the X, scroll all the way to find your custom design, and place one of the windows you want to create.
