The changing of the months means the changing of the bugs, fish and sea creatures. So this guide is here to make sure you know what’s arrived on August and that you don’t miss out on catching any of those sea creatures that will be leaving at midnight on September 1st. Here we list all of the new fish, bugs and sea creatures coming to Animal Crossing New Horizons for the month of August and leaving before September 1st. We also detail how to catch August sea creatures in Animal Crossing New Horizons (Northern & Southern).

August Bugs, Fish, Sea Creatures List For Northern & Southern Hemisphere In ACNH 

There are a variety of sea creatures and, every month in New Horizons sees the arrival of at least one new bug, fish or sea creature for you to find on your island. Successfully catching August sea creatures in ACNH will help you complete your NookPhone’s Critterpedia for unlocking two of the Golden Tools DIY recipes and donate every critter to the Museum, so it's a good idea to know which critters have arrived this month and make sure you catch them as soon as you can. This is your last chance to catch these until they return later in the year or potentially next year. 

The Southern Hemisphere is only getting one new critter, the Tiger Beetle. The Northern Hemisphere, however, is getting a handful of new bugs, fish, and even a new Sea Creature to dig up in the ocean. Here’s everything you need to know about August bugs, fish and sea creatures in Animal Crossing New Horizons for both Southern and Northern Hemisphere.


New sea creatures in Animal Crossing New Horizons for August (Northern Hemisphere):

  • 1. Migratory Locust: 8a.m to 7p.m (600 ACNH bells)

  • 2. Rice Grasshopper: 8a.m to 7p.m (400 bells)

  • 3. Walker Cicada: 8a.m to 5p.m (400 bells)

  • 4. Soft-shelled Turtle: 4p.m to 9a.m (3750 bells)

  • 5. Moray Eel: all day (2000 bells)

  • 6. Ray: 4a.m to 9p.m (3000 bells)

  • 7. Flatworm: 4p.m to 9a.m (700 bells)

How to Catch August Sea Creatures in Animal Crossing?

You can find and catch all new sea creatures in August through swimming and diving. To start diving, you need to buy a Wet Suit. Or wear the Snorkel Mask when catching sea creatures for August. You can find a striped suit of varying colors in Nook’s Cranny. Additionally, the Nook Stop also will give you the option to purchase an exclusive diving suit using Nook Miles Tickets. When diving from a rock or dock by pressing the A, the action of jumping into the water will be triggered. If you want to swim ashore, you can only swim from the beach. If you discover suspicious bubbles floating up from an area in the ocean, start diving deep into the water and swim towards any shadows, you may spot any Animal Crossing sea creatures and catch them.


What Can You Do with Animal Crossing Sea Creatures August 2020?

Sea Creatures are a new type of critter under the sea in the surrounding ocean of your island in Animal Crossing, much like the bugs and fish, the sea creatures will rotate per month. You are able to catch them for collection in your Critterpedia, donating to Blathers to complete your Museum, or selling them to Timmy & Tommy at Nook’s Cranny for ACNH bells. Similarly, the ACNH sea creatures can only be donated for the first time, check the Sea Creatures cataloged in your NookPhone’s Critterpedia to before donation if you are not sure. If you have, there will be a little owl icon next to the critter name.
